ONE PIECE FLOW
One-piece flow (OPF) is a method of production that involves the movement of products through the manufacturing process, one unit at a time, as opposed to mass production with batches and queues.
Sometimes referred to as "single-piece flow" or "continuous flow", this lean approach focuses the efforts of operators and personnel on the manufacturing process itself, instead of on waste.
The end goal of a OPF line is to achieve zero work-in-progress (WIP) and zero wait time, through a combination of calculating takt times, reviewing equipment / process capabilities, balancing new line layouts and sustaining through standard work.
